Easter Sunday begins with the procession of the statue of the Risen Christ in Piazza Umberto I accompanied by the confraternities. The Cuore di Gesù confraternity takes the statue of the Madonna with the black mantle, symbolising mourning, and everyone moves in procession towards Piazza Umberto I for the long-awaited 'u'ncuntru': the two statues can be seen in the distance, then the Madonna's black mantle is suddenly slipped, then, carried on their shoulders, after a fast run, they meet in the centre of the square to the sound of the town band's papal hymn, moving up and down simultaneously as a sign of blessing.
